NCS is a dream conceived by members
of the Campbell Street church of Christ while doing mission work
in Nicaragua. During these missions, it was learned that many of
the children in Nicaragua did not have the chance to attend
public schools because their families could not afford the
uniforms and school supplies.
The dream was to provide the opportunity for the poorest in the
community to be able to not only receive an education, but to
receive a Christian education. These children would be taught
a normal school curriculum and they would also be taught lessons
from the Bible every day.
This dream is becoming a reality because individuals like you,
churches, Sunday School classes, and other groups are contributing
towards the building fund or sponsoring a child. Sponsoring a
child is only $30 per month which provides their uniform, school
supplies, and a nutritional meal every day. A good Christian education
can change not only the life of a child, but the future of a
country.
Why build a school in Nicaragua?
School Costs
•Fewer than half the children in Nicaragua attend school.
•The reason… there is no money for uniforms, supplies and tuition.
High Unemployment
•Unemployment is nearing 40%
•Most who are fortunate enough to be employed earn from $30 to $90 per month.
Living Conditions
•Many live in homes with dirt floors, cook over open fires and eat rice and beans almost every meal.
•Many children who attend school are hungry.
